FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason rowing head coach Geoff Dillard announced
the addition of 10 rowers to the roster for the 2012-13 season. The incoming
class consists of seven rowers from Virginia in addition to rowers from New
Jersey, Connecticut and New York.

Egg Harbor
Township High School
A multi-sport athlete at Egg Harbor Township High School, Casto
competed in both soccer and rowing for the Eagles earning two letters in soccer
and three in rowing. In 2012, she helped the Eagles to a silver medal in the
Atlantic County Championship in addition to a silver finish at the Garden State
Championship and bronze finish at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta. The New Jersey
native captured gold in 2011 at the Atlantic County Championship and Garden State
Championship and took bronze at the Philadelphia City Championship. Casto was a
varsity scholar-athlete and a member of the high honor roll and National Honor
Society.
"Cailyn has a lot of athletic ability and a strong work ethic,"
stated Dillard. "She has a lot of great race experience and has been successful
at some of the biggest races at the scholastic level. We look forward to her
bringing her skills and race experience to Mason next year."
Katie Bamberger
South
Glastonbury, Conn.
Glastonbury
High School
A senior from Glastonbury High School, Bamberger earned two
letters in basketball and six in rowing. The honor roll student was State
Champion in 2011.
"Katie will be a great addition to our team next year," commented
Dillard. "She has great Division I size, and rows with a lot of power and
length. I believe she will really embrace our team atmosphere and will take her
rowing to a top level."

Pohlmeier
Woodbridge,
Va.
Woodbridge
Senior High School
A varsity crew member at Woodbridge Senior High School, Pohlmeier
was tabbed All-Area First Team and team captain as both a junior and senior. In
2011, Pohlmeier took second in the Virginia State Championship with the
lightweight eight and captured the lightweight 2x title in 2012. Additionally
in the lightweight 2x, she took silver at the 2012 SRAA Nationals. An Honor
Society member, she also joined the Beta Club and participated in the Advanced
Placement Scholars Program.
"Kara comes to Mason highly recommended by her scholastic coaches,"
Dillard noted. "Kara rows really well and is an excellent boat mover. She has a
lot of racing experience and will be a welcome addition to our team."

von Rinteln
Centreville,
Va.
Westfield
High School
A two-sport athlete at Westfield High School, von Rinteln competed
in rowing and volleyball for the Bulldogs. She played with SYA Volleyball for
six years and SYA Soccer for three years. The senior earned three letters in
rowing and was a member of the Art Honor Society.
"Ali has a great attitude and is very coachable," Dillard said. "She
can generate a lot of power in the boat and we look forward to working with her
to build on her scholastic success."
Kelly Rice
Virginia
Beach, Va.
First
Colonial High School
Rice competed in field hockey, volleyball and rowing at First
Colonial High School and was named an Academic All-Start in volleyball in 2010.
In 2011, Rice finished 12th in the varsity four at the SRAA
Nationals Competition in Camden, N.J.
"Kelly has great energy and her enthusiasm about rowing is very
contagious," stated Dillard. "She has great length which will be a huge asset
for her in the boat. She will be a great fit for our program."
Olivia
Oberkircher
Suffern,
New York
Suffren
High School
Oberkircher rowed for three years at Suffren High School, helping
lead the Mountain Lions to four consecutive Rockland County Championships. Additionally
in 2012, she helped Suffren capture the Eastern New York High School
Championship.
"Olivia has a strong competitive attitude and loves to race,"
Dillard noted. "Her high energy combined with her competitive attitude will be
appreciated by all her new teammates."
Ana-Karina
Jin
Fairfax,
Va.

High School
Jin competed in gymnastics, cheerleading and rowing at Fairfax
High School and also rowed at Northern Virginia Rowing Club. Jin, a coxswain,
competed at the 2011 Capitol Sprints and US Club Nationals in a junior men's
four. Captain of the gymnastics team, Jin was a member of the National Art
Honor Society and Visual Arts Club Secretary.
"Ana-Karina is very eager to learn," said Dillard. "Her experience
coxing on the Occoquan and knowing the water will make her transition to Mason
very easy. We look forward to adding another experienced coxswain to our team."

Lucas
Virginia
Beach, Va.
Bishop
Ireton High School
A tri-sport athlete at Bishop Ireton, Lucas competed in swimming,
rowing and water polo for the Cardinals. She twice earned the Varsity Coxswain
Award and was tabbed MVP in water polo. Lucas also received the Cardinal Award
in both swimming and rowing and earned the coaches award for swimming. She
competed at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, Cindy Cole Cup and Bishops Cup,
capturing the both titles, and took first in the men's varsity eight at the
Anacostia Invite.
"Caitlin is a converted coxswain from a rower," stated Dillard. "Her
understanding of what her rowers are going through will make her a strong
coxswain. Caitlin comes from a growing competitive program and will fit right
in at Mason next year. "
Clara Wear
Alexandria,
Va.
West
Potomac High School
A strong student-athlete, Wear earned two varsity letters in
rowing at West Potomac High School. She won the Outstanding Sports Journalist
Award in 2010 and SAT Award in 2009. She has been a member of the Athletic
Honor Roll three times and attended the Virginia's Governor's School for
Japanese Language at the University of Virginia last summer.
"Clara is excited to come to Mason next year," noted Dillard. "She
is another experienced rower that will be a welcomed addition to our program. Clara
is an excellent student with a strong work ethic."

Moskowitz
Richmond,
Va.
J.R.
Tucker High School
A four-year member and captain of the crew team at J.R. Tucker
High School, Moskowitz was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club
and Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honors Society). In 2012, she helped capture first in
the varsity four and varsity double at the Brambleton Regatta and second place
in the varsity double at the Big Mathews Regatta, Mathews Regatta and the James
River Regatta. Moskowitz took third in the varsity double at the Occoquan Chase
in 2011.
"Juliana is eager to attend
Mason next year and has a strong desire to do whatever it takes to be
successful as a rower," commented Dillard. "She is an accomplished student and
we look forward to seeing her develop."
