Sophomore Jacquelyn Spalding had five goals on six shots as George Mason women's lacrosse notched its second straight win in a 10-5 decision at Mount St. Mary's Thursday afternoon.

Spalding did not waste any time getting the Patriots on the board with two goals in the first five minutes of action. Senior Caitlin McGinn and sophomore Jordan Sdanowich followed with a goal each to give Mason a 4-0 lead with 19:12 to play in the first half. After nearly 13 minutes of scoreless action, Mount St. Mary's would get their first goal of the day but Spalding quickly responded, sending the Patriots into the break with a 5-1 lead.

The Patriots got out to another quick start in the second half thanks to another goal and an assist from Spalding. The Riva, Md. native connected with classmate Alexa McGovern before finding the back of the net herself to put the Patriots up 7-1 with 22:21 to play. Mount responded less than a minute later, but McGovern was not done. The Sykesville, Md. native scored her second goal of the day off a pass from McGinn before Spalding knocked in her fifth and final goal of the day. McGovern would score once more, helping the Patriots seal the 10-5 decision.

As a team, the Patriots outshot the Mount 24-16 and recovered 12 ground balls compared to The Mount's 10 led by Erin Anderson with three. Freshman goalie Taylor Carpentier registered seven saves while allowing just five goals.

Mason is slated to host Georgetown Wednesday, March 4 for the Patriots home opener.
