GoMason.com is going out of the pool with members of the George Mason swimming & diving team to find out what they are up to when they are not practicing and competing. Here we get to know freshman Amy Tansill.
GoMason.com: What influenced your decision to attend George Mason University?
Amy Tansill: The great team atmosphere, the academic opportunities the school provided me, and Mason's close proximity to DC influenced my decision to attend George Mason.
GoMason.com: What has been your favorite part about George Mason?
Tansill: My favorite part about Mason is being on the swim team. I feel like I am part of a family, and we all get along and have a lot of fun.
GoMason.com: What goals have you set for yourself this season?
Tansill: My goals for this season are to make A10 A finals in the 100 breaststroke, and help the 200 and 400 medley relays make it there as well.
GoMason.com: Which drill/practice is your favorite to do?
Tansill: My favorite thing to do in practice is sprint breaststroke off the blocks, especially 50's and 25's.
GoMason.com: What activities do you enjoy doing out of the pool?
Tansill: Outside of the pool I love to shop. I love shopping for clothes, shoes, jackets, anything.
GoMason.com: If you could swim in one event in the Olympics, which would it be and why?
Tansill: If I could swim one event in the Olympics it would be the 100 breaststroke. I love sprint breaststroke, and the 100 is just 2 quick 50s.
GoMason.com: If you could not swim, what other sport would you choose to compete in and why?
Tansill: If I could not swim I would be a hurdler in track because I love to sprint, and I did hurdles when I was younger and enjoyed it.
GoMason.com: If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Tansill: If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life it would be my mom's baked ziti with meatballs.

Book - My favorite book is the Harry Potter series.
Movie - My favorite movie is either Breakfast at Tiffany's or 500 Days of Summer.
Class - My favorite class I have taken at Mason was my Personal Health class.
