After closing out a 2-0 road swing, the George Mason women's basketball team plays the next five of six games at the Patriot Center and opens the slate with a three-game homestand. The Patriots welcome UNC Asheville on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Mason is coming off a 54-50 victory at Stony Brook after taking its first lead of the contest with less than two minutes to play. Taleia Moton scored 16 of her 18-point night in the second half to lead the Patriots. Rahneeka Saunders added 12 points while Janaa Pickard led on the glass with eight rebounds.
UNC Asheville enters the meeting with a 2-2 record after a 71-59 loss at Furman. The Bulldogs have picked up wins over Winston-Salem State and Montreat College this season, both at home. UNCA is paced in scoring by Lindsey Thompson with a 14.8 points per game average, while Kelli Riles averages 9.8 boards per game to lead on the glass.
