NEW ORLEANS, La. – After winning the 400m title and helping the 4x400m relay to a top finish at the IC4A Championships, George Mason senior track athlete David Verburg collected USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week Honorable Mention accolades, as announced by the organization on Monday.
Verburg won the 400m with a season-best time of 45.34 seconds and also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400m relay, taking the top spot with a season-best time of 3:08.28. The 400m title was the third-consecutive for Verburg who just one week earlier captured his fourth CAA title of his career in the event.
Verburg and his teammates will now look forward to the NCAA East Region Prelims in Greensboro May 23-25 as they look to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon June 5-8.
