The Mason tennis team defeated Michigan Tech, 6-1, for their third straight win and improved to 6-2 overall. The Patriots won their second match in their five-match spring break trip to Hilton Head, SC.
The doubles teams scored the first point for Mason, winning at the No. 2 and 3 matches. The team of Jordan Dyke and Taylor Sargent defeated the No. 2 team of Okiveros/Yumuang, 8-5. Mason's Christopher Borden and Nick Barker won handily at No. 3, 8-3.
The Patriots won singles matches No. 1-5, with two matches going to the tiebreaker set. At the top singles match, Jordan Dyke defeated Dos Santos, 4-6, 6-4, (10-8). Freshman Coner Moran bested Michigan Tech's Rodriguez, 4-6, 7-6(2), (10-8) at No. 4 singles.
The match scheduled yesterday with St. Joseph's College was rained-out. Mason will play Limestone today at 3:30 at Hilton Head High School.
