Mason Posts Impressive Results at the Sergio Tacchini Invitational

The women's tennis team completed well this weekend at the Sergio Tacchini Collegiate Invitational at Old Dominion University. The tournament hosted 26 schools this weekend and Mason had some impressive results.

Freshman Brooke Blackwell had a great weekend including defeating Michelle Gee of Howard 6-0, 6-2 in the semi-finals of the B Singles Flight. Her run was halted in the final as she fell to Inna Dementyeva of Old Dominion 4-6, 2-6.

In Singles Flight D the Patriots were well represented in the final as Alicia Van Zandt defeated teammate Alexandra LaCoste 6-2, 0-6, 10-7. To get to the finals today, LaCoste defeated Rachel Bergeron, 6-4, 6-2 and Van Zandt defeated Maria Casaletto, 6-2, 7-6(2) in their semi-final matches.

Other key results included Lindsay Gray and Meredith Cutchin winning the finals consolation of A Doubles Flight while the duo of Laura-Marie Blisk and Stephanie Longuiera won the B Flight consolation.
