Mason completes the Old Dominion University Invitational

Oct. 13, 2008

The Old Dominion University Invitational concluded with four matches for Mason, including three consolation matches. Arjun Sanghvi was the only Patriot left in contention for a title as the day began, but was eliminated in the semi-finals 6-1, 6-0.

Sanghvi saw difficulty in dictating the pace and managing the tempo of his opponent's serve. Zack Schneider was the only patriot to leave on a winning note as he won 4-1 in an 8-game pro set, due to retirement of Chet Milot of Loyola. Imran Nayeem was played against Tonique Merrell of Howard. Nayeem unfortunately could not come out with a win losing 8-2. Brian Fitzgerald was the last to play and faced off against Jared Robinson of JMU for his consolation match and began slow, but rebounded to go up 7-6. With Fitzgerald serving out the potential winning game Robinson of JMU rallied back to win the match 9-7.
