The Patriots (7-5) started strong but couldn’t keep up at Richmond, falling 16-4 to the Spiders Friday afternoon.
Brooke Lorber got things started for Mason scoring less than two minutes into the contest to put the Patriots in front early. The Spiders would tie things up started a tug of war that would last the rest of the half,
Caitlin McGinn and Kirstin Russell would find the back of the net before Rachel Obregon would net her 29th goal of the season to give Mason a 4-3 lead with just over 11 minutes in the first half.
However, the Spiders would tie things up just shy of halftime and hold on from there scoring 12 goals in the second half to seal the 16-4 win.
The Patriots look to bounce back Sunday when they continue their road trip at UMass at 1 p.m.
