Mason comes off a weekend series with Fairfield where the two teams played a single game on Saturday and a doubleheader on Sunday. Fairfield won 3-1 Saturday while Mason went on to win game one of Sunday's doubleheader, 9-4. The Stags took the series with a 6-1 win in game number two of the day. 

The Patriots enter Tuesday's contest with a record of 9-5 in the only game these two teams will play against each other this season. Senior RHP Michael Bowie will make his first appearance of the season against the Tar Heels, receiving the nod to start on Tuesday. Bowie finished 2013 with a record of 1-1, making five starts in 14 appearances with an ERA of 4.66, the fourth lowest on the team last season. 

North Carolina, ranked 13th in the latest NCBWA poll and Collegiate Baseball Top 30 polls, comes into the game with a 10-4 record. The Tar Heels last dropped the final game of its series with Pittsburgh 6-4 to end a nine game winning streak, however won the first two games of the series. Freshman first baseman Joe Dudek leads the team on offense with two homeruns and 12 RBI in 14 games.
