|Help the Patriots Defeat the Richmond Spiders in Cause for the Classic Food Drive|
George Mason will play the University of Richmond on the court December 22 in the Governor's Holiday Hoops Classic in Richmond. Leading up to the game, the two schools fans will compete to see who can donate the most canned foods and raise the most amount of money for the Capital Food Bank.
The Cause for the Classic food drive will begin on November 15 and end on December 15. Fans can donate on campus at several locations or online to support George Mason's bid to raise the most in support of the Federation of Virginia Food Banks. Monetary donations are accepted in support of the initiative online at Mason Gives Back.
There are nine Mason sporting events on campus where food will be collected. The first event is the Patriot Invitational, the swimming and diving meet held at the Aquatics Center Thursday through Saturday, November 15-17. Food bins will be available at all Patriots men's and women's basketball home games during the competition period, beginning with the women's basketball game against Morgan State, Friday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Patriot Center. Two Mason wrestling matches held at the RAC on November 18 and December 8th round out the nine events available for food collection.
The winning schools will be announced between the two games at the Governor's Holiday Hoops Classic. The second game of the double-header is Old Dominion against the University of Virginia.
