Rowing Concludes Weekend of Racing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – After opening the weekend with a third-place finish in the UVa Invitational on Saturday, racing just a third varsity eight, the George Mason rowing team competed in the 4th Annual George’s Cup on Sunday. Mason finished third and Georgetown won the cup, followed by George Washington.

First on the water Sunday, the varsity 4 crossed third with a time of 7:43.70. George Washington won its lone race of the morning with the varsity 4 in 7:27.40.

The second varsity 8 was up next as Georgetown took its first of two races in the morning. The Hoyas captured first crossing in 6:36.80. Mason took third in 7:04.60.

In the final and most competitive race of the morning, Mason finished just outside of second place in third with a time of 6:37.00. The Hoyas finished first in 6:24.10.

Mason will use both races this weekend as final prep for the Atlantic 10 Championships on Sunday, May 4 at the Occoquan Reservoir. Racing will begin at 8 a.m.
