FARIFAX, Va. – For the third consecutive week, redshirt freshman Jalen Jenkins was named the men’s basketball Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week. In Mason’s two contests this week, Jenkins averaged a double-double of 11.0 points and 11.0 rebounds.
Mason opened the week at Fordham where the Brooklyn, N.Y. native posted nine points and 11 rebounds in the 76-70 loss. Jenkins went 4-for-7 from the field and finished the contest with two assists, two blocks and one steal.
Jenkins followed that performance recording his second career double-double of the season on Saturday against George Washington. The Patriot contributed 11 points and 11 rebounds along with a career-high four assists. Additionally, the freshman had three blocks and two steals while shooting 5-for-8 from the field.
For the week, Jenkins shot 60.0 percent (9-15) from the floor, 80.0 percent from the charity stripe (4-5), pulled down 22 rebounds, five blocks, four assists and three steals. On the conference season, Jenkins is nearly averaging a double-double with 12.5 ppg and 9.8 rpg.
