George Mason returns to the Patriot Center to host local rival George Washington in the Revolutionary Rivalry on Saturday. Tip is slated for noon on NBCSN in the first-ever A-10 meeting between the programs. GW holds a 10-2 all-time series advantage, but the Patriots took the last decision between the two teams in the Patriot Center, 60-46, on December 1, 2010.
The winner will also earn one point towards the Revolutionary Rivalry, which pits George Mason and George Washington against each other in a year-long, all-sports competition. The Tri-Corner Hat Trophy will be awarded based on a point system with points given to the victor in each of the 16 A-10 sports in which the schools compete. The series is currently tied at 4-4. Visit GoMason/rivalry for more information, schedule and standings, and use #RevRivalry to join the battle on social media.
Mason comes into the contest looking for its first league win of the season after falling to Fordham on Wednesday in the Bronx. Sherrod Wright led Mason with 21 points, while Bryon Allen added 13 and Erik Copes finished with a season-best 10 points.
GW enters Saturday's contest on a three-game win streak after defeating St. Bonaventure 79-71 last Saturday. The Colonials are first in the A-10 in blocks per game (5.4 bpg), second in steals (8.2 spg) and thrid in three-point shooting (36.3%) and rebound margin (+4.7). Four Colonials average double-figure scoring numbers of the season led by Maurice Creek (14.5 ppg) and Kethan Savage (13.4 ppg).
