FAIRFAX, Va. – Sophomore Sahid Kargbo was able to escape a 3-0 deficit and pin down Luke Bilyeu of West Chester University of Pennsylvania to win his preliminary bout at the NWCA All-Star Classic hosted by George Mason University at the Patriot Center on Saturday night.

In an evening that showcased the sport of collegiate wrestling and some of the top talent in the country, Kargbo participated in one of four preliminary bouts prior to the 10-match main event that pitted All-Americans and NCAA champions against one another.

Bliyeu first went up on Kargbo 1-0 on an escape with 12 seconds remaining in the second period and managed to get a takedown at the buzzer for a 3-0 advantage at the end of two periods. Kargbo made his move in the early stages of the third period to get Bilyeu down on the mat and hold him for the pin and the win.

Other highlights from the night included Iowa’s Tony Ramos and The Ohio State’s Logan Stieber each winning their match after jumping up an entire weight class just for the All-Star Classic. Six of the ten matches went into overtime with two going to the tiebreakers, including the matches featuring Ramos and Stieber. Jimmy Sheptock from the University of Maryland was also able to win his contest with Jacob Schwartz of Boise State University in a match at 184 pounds. In total, 14 matches took place in front of a crowd of 3,882 in a fantastic environment at the Patriot Center.
