The George Mason women's volleyball team faces a stiff test this weekend at home, hosting Duquesne on Friday night and defending Atlantic 10 Conference champion Dayton on Saturday. The Patriots are midway through their four-match homestand as they look to make a late-season push.
Mason is coming off a pair of defeats last weekend, falling 3-1 at Rhode Island before a sweep by George Washington on Sunday at home in the Revolutionary Rivalry series. Sophomore Morghan Martin leads the Patriot offense with 179 kills while classmate Lolade Owokoniran has a team high 110 blocks (13 solo), a figure which continues to lead the Atlantic 10.
Duquesne has won its last seven matches, including wins last weekend at home over George Washington and Dayton. The Dukes' only conference loss came on September 29, a five-set defeat by VCU. Arielle Love paces the offense with 197 kills, while as a team, the Dukes are leading the A-10 in hitting percentage (.223).
Following Friday's match, the Patriots welcome Dayton to the RAC on Saturday evening in the annual Dig Pink match, in which Mason will don special uniforms and seek to raise awareness for breast cancer research.
