The Mason men's tennis team defeated visiting Niagara today, 4-1 at Westwood Country Club in Vienna. The match was originally scheduled to be played
on campus at the outdoor RAC Tennis Courts, but the wintery weather
caused them to move indoors.
The Patriots won three out of four singles matches and the only doubles match in the 4+1 format. The toughest point for the Green and Gold was at No. 2 singles. Mason's Jimmy Davis lost the first set in a tiebreaker, then after winning the second set 6-3, Davis went on to win the super tiebreaker 10-6. Jordan Dyke and Scott Keaton each won their singles matches for the Patriots.
In the doubles match, Mason's Taylor Sargent and Christopher Borden defeated Niagara's team of Elortegui/Lacasse, 8-3.
The Patriots (4-2) will head to Hilton Head this weekend for a week-long trip during spring break. Mason will play five matches, beginning with Denison Sunday at Noon.
