|Mason Tennis Drops Match to William and Mary in CAA Opener|
The Mason men's tennis team opened Colonial Athletic Association play with a 5-2 setback to William and Mary in Williamsburg today. The Patriots drop to 3-2 while W&M improves 5-5.
The Tribe claimed the doubles point against Mason with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Anton Andersson and Aaron Chaffee gave W&M the early advantage with an 8-1 victory over Jimmy Davis and Scott Keaton at the top slot. Ben Hoogland and Adrian Vodislav clinched the initial point of the match at the No. 3 spot against Mason's Taylor Sargent and Taylor Baine.
Mason's two points came in two of the three singles matches that finished in the super tiebreaker. At No. 1 singles Jordan Dyke defeated Aaron Chaffee (2-6, 7-5, 10-5) At No. 6 Taylor Sargent won against the Tribe's Zach Braig (6-7, 6-3, 10-7). At the No. 3 spot Tribe senior Adrian Vodislav took the opening set, 7-5, before Mason's Tanner Baine rallied to claim the second, 6-3. Vodislav outlasted him, 10-8, in the super tiebreaker third.
