The George Mason men's tennis team defeated Mary Washington 7-0 this evening at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center in Fredericksburg, Va. The Patriots swept all six matches in singles play and won two of the three doubles matches to improve to 2-1 for the spring season.
In doubles, the two Mason wins came by the same 8-4 margin. The duo of Jordan Dyke and Chris Borden defeated Tyler Carey and Kaleb Nguyen at No. 2 doubles and Tanner Baine and Taylor Sargent handed Alex Blakhin and Marcel Rengifo a loss at No. 3 doubles.
The Patriots swept all six singles matches, with two matches advancing to three sets. At the top singles match Mason's Jordan Dyke defeated Alex Blakhin, 6-4, 6-7(6), 10-6 and at No. 6 singles Taylor Sargent took down David Lunding-Johansson, 6-3, 0-6, 6-1.
The Green and Gold will return to action on Saturday, February 16 when they host Christopher Newport at 5:30 pm at Monclair Country Club.
