The George Mason men’s basketball team returns home to face longtime Colonial Athletic Association rival Old Dominion on Thursday night at the Patriot Center. Mason has won the last three games against the Monarchs, and has not lost to ODU in Fairfax since 2007, a stretch of five straight victories at home.

ODU is looking to snap a three-game winless streak on Thursday, as the last ODU victory came in the Governor’s Holiday Hoops Classic, a 63-61 triumph over Virginia on Dec. 22. The Monarchs are led by DeShawn Painter, the lone scorer in double figures at 11.6 points per game along with a team-high 8.3 rebounds per contest. He leads an ODU effort on the boards that is grabbing 5.7 more rebounds than their opponents on average.

Not only is redshirt junior Sherrod Wright ranked in the top-50 nationally in points per game, but he has done it an efficient manner than just six other players can match. Wright is averaging 18.2 points per game and shooting better than 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.  He is one of only seven players in Division I this season to average better than 18 points, 50 percent shooting and 40 percent 3-point shooting. His 43.1 percent 3-point shooting ranks first in the CAA while his 53.6 percent mark from the field is fourth among conference scorers.
