RICHMOND, Va. - After leading the George Mason men's basketball team's offense this past week, redshirt junior guard Sherrod Wright was recognized as the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week on Monday. It is his first honor and the second of the season for the Patriots.

Wright averaged 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in George Mason's 1-1 week. He scored a team-high 23 points (one point shy of his career high) and added five rebounds and two steals in a 74-63 triumph over UMBC. On Saturday against Northern Iowa, the Mount Vernon, N.Y., native recorded a team-best 20 points, five rebounds and two steals in an 82-77 overtime loss to the Panthers.

For the week, Wright shot 71.4% (15-21) from the floor, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range, and was 8-of-10 at the FT line. He currently leads the team averaging 16.4 points per game and is second in rebounding with 5.2 boards per contest. Wright ranks fourth in the CAA in scoring and field goal percentage and 19th in rebounding. He shares the award with Towson's Jerrelle Benimon.

Wright and the Patriots are off for final exams for the next two weeks, returning to action Saturday, December 22 when they take on Richmond in the Governor's Holiday Hoops Classic at 3 p.m.
