MEN'S BASKETBALL vs. VIRGINIA
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
The George Mason men’s basketball team opens its 47th season of play Friday night, hosting in-state foe Virginia to kick off the season. This is the first time that the Cavaliers have visited Fairfax since 1996, and just the eighth time the two teams have met. Virginia has been victorious in each of the prior seven meetings. Coming off a 22-10 season and NCAA appearance, the Cavaliers will look to replace two lost starters in forward Mike Scott (18.0 ppg) and Sammy Zeglinski (8.6 ppg) in their offense this season. Head coach Tony Bennett, now in his fourth season at the helm, and his squad were picked to finish seventh in the Atlantic Coast Conference preseason poll. Joe Harris is the Cavaliers’ top returning scorer at 11.3 ppg. |
