Mason Cheer Collegiate Stunt Clinics

Throughout the year, the Mason Cheerleaders fundraise by holding stunt clinics. Any and all current, former or aspiring cheerleaders (All-Star, High School and College) are welcome to attend! Learn better technique by group stunting and/or partner stunting with the George Mason University Cheerleaders. Keep checking the website for further information on upcoming clinics and for the registration form.

About the Team

The George Mason University Cheerleading program includes a nationally ranked Small Co-ed (Green) competitive team and an All-Girl (Gold) sideline team. Currently, the program is under the direction of Head Coach Ryan Smith and Assistant Coach Kelly Beyer.

The Mason Cheerleaders cheer at all home Men's and Women's Basketball games, as well as the A10 Basketball tournaments. They are also featured at many community appearances, on-campus pep rallies and University events like Mason Madness. Several Mason Cheerleader alumni have gone on to cheer professionally. We have had former Mason Cheerleaders on the NFL Redskinette cheer team, their Ambassador team and on the Ravens Cheer Team. Many other alumni coach area high school and all-star cheer teams.

National Competition

The Green team competes annually at UCA's National College Cheerleading Championship, held every January at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. They have placed in the top 5 of the Nation's best college cheer teams almost every year for the past ten years. This year, they are currently ranked 7th in Division I Small Coed.

As part of the UCA National College Partner Stunt Championship, a Mason Cheer All-Girl 4 group placed 5th in 2010.

This year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of our Large Coed team that took home 1st place in the National Championship in 1990. Let's Go Mason!

Mason Cheer Information

Throughout the school year, Gold team practices are held 2 evenings a week with 2-3 extra practices in October leading up to Mason Madness.

During the fall semester, Green team practices are held 4 evenings a week, and increase to 6 practices a week with about 7 extra performances during the competition season (December - January). Green team practices drop to 2 evenings a week for the spring semester.

All current students are eligible to tryout, as well as incoming freshman that have already applied to George Mason University. Tryouts are normally scheduled for late April or early May. More details will be available as tryouts approach.

All incoming Freshmen, transfers and current Mason students that make the team and plan to live on campus must check the will need housing over the winter break option on their housing application.
