NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Entering its initial season in the Atlantic 10 Conference, the George Mason men’s cross country team was predicted to finish tied for third, while the women were tabbed to finish seventh in the A-10 preseason polls, released Monday by the conference. The poll was determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.

After a successful season in the Colonial Athletic Association last year, the men’s cross country team was tabbed to finish tied for the third in the A-10 alongside Duquesne. For the fourth consecutive season, La Salle was predicted to take home the A-10 title. The Explorers, who finished third last season, will look for their second A-10 Championship in the last three seasons.

Following La Salle, Saint Joseph’s was picked to finish second after a 2012 runner-up finish. Behind Mason and Duquesne in third, Dayton rounds out the top five, followed by Richmond, Fordham, Massachusetts, Saint Louis, VCU, George Washington, Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure.
