NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Five George Mason student-athletes were recognized Tuesday by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) as the organization announced its 2012-13 Academic All-State team. A total of 221 student-athletes were recognized, representing 37 schools in the state.
Five Patriot student-athletes were honored on the list, achieving a 3.25 GPA or better.
To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or better and achieved at least sophomore status.
VaSID is comprised of sports information or athletics communications professionals from intercollegiate institutions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Membership is open to any individual affiliated with one of the state's institutions at the NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, USCAA and community college levels, provided that individual's area of responsibility lies within the realm of sports information.
