TOWSON, Md. – Senior attacker Allie Hilderbrandt and junior midfielder Rachel Obregon both received recognition from the league office Thursday night on the eve of the 2013 CAA Lacrosse Championship, being named to the All-CAA Second Team. The awards were based on a vote of the league's head coaches.
Hilderbrandt led Mason offensively with 41 goals scored, which included a career-high performance of six goals against William and Mary on senior day. The Pennington, N.J. native finished the season tied for the team lead in draw controls with 34. Hilderbrandt recorded the game-winning goals against Bucknell, American and Liberty. Also against American, the senior won a career-high six draw controls and matched the performance at Drexel later in the season. This marks the second conference honor for Hilderbrandt as the senior was tabbed to the All-Rookie team in 2010.
Obregon joins Hilderbrandt on the second team after posting 34 goals and six assists on the season. The junior finished the season with 18 ground balls, 13 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers. Obregon recorded her first of four hat tricks during the season in just the second game as the Fairfax Station, Va., native scored four goals against Brown. She notched the game-winning goal at Marist as the Patriots sealed a 10-9 victory.
James Madison senior attacker Casey Ancarrow and Towson junior attacker Ashleigh Rohrback were named CAA Co-Players of the Year. Towson senior defender Alexa Demski and Hofstra sophomore defender April Iannetta were both named CAA Co-Defensive Players of the Year. Becky Conto of Hofstra was tabbed the CAA Rookie of the Year, while Towson head coach Sonia LaMonica received CAA Coach of the Year honors for the third consecutive year.
