LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Six George Mason wrestlers competed this past week in Las Vegas. Five student-athletes competed in the Junior FILA Nationals (20 and under), Jake Kettler competed in the open division. All the George Mason wrestlers competed as members of the Patriot Elite wrestling club.
Sahid Kargbo took third place in the Greco 66 KG weight class with an overall record of 4-1 throughout the tournament. Kargbo defeated Yoanse Mejias of the Florida Jets club in the third place match. With his third place finish, Kargo qualified for the final trials for the junior world team.
Both Kettler and Matt Meadows finished seventh in the Greco 120 KG and Greco 96 KG classes, respectively. Kettler defeated Sam Stoll of the Team UNIT club. Meadows won the seventh place match against Tyler Cormier of Team Aggression by injury. Meadows finish qualified him for the final trials for junior worlds and Kettler qualified for the final trials for the senior world team.
Corey Smith, David Chenevey and Ryan Forrest also competed in the FILA Junior Nationals.
